ABSTRACT
ABSTRACT: Three questions regarding the scattering of electron probes focussed within a unit cell are considered. What is the dispersion of the probe within the specimen? Can the probe detect translational symmetry elements, such as glide lines? Can the probe detect the correlations in the motion of atoms, as generated by phonons? Examples illustrating each case are presented.
