ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT The physical properties of graphitising carbons depend heavily on the degree of graphitisation. Analysis of a graphitisation series heat treated in the range 600 - 2730 °C shows that the energy of the bulk (π*+σ*) plasmon and the relative proportion of sp2 bonding have a strong dependency on graphitic character. Our plasmon energy results directly correlate with the He density measurements taken for the series.
