ABSTRACT
For close to thirty-five years, Department of Defense (DoD) Military Platform Program Managers (PMs), Combat Developers and Operators have recognized the need for improved situational awareness, off bore sight targeting, multi-spectral sensor fusion and indirect viewing through integrated information management systems. These systems had historically been focused on fixed wing and rotorcrafl applications. Because of revolutionary advancements in miniature displays, sensors, optics, electronics, processor power reduction, weight, and size; man portable systems are being evaluated for dismounted warfighter applications and soldier integration.
