I. INTRODUCTION Fibrous composites are made by infiltrating a fibrous assembly with a matrix material (e.g., polymer, ceramic). The matrix fills the space between fibers and bonds to fiber surfaces, creating a fiber-matrix interface. The properties of this interface depend on the fiber surface physical and chemical characteristics, the matrix material type, and the composite processing temperature [1-3].
