ABSTRACT

As engineers, we hold vast power in our hands. We have the opportunity to pro vide products and services that can affect the lives o f vast numbers o f people. These products and services can affect the public in beneficial or harmful ways. Early on, the organizing bodies o f our engineering professional societies realized this fact. They created lists o f rules to which all engineers would be held account able. These rules were established to ensure that the public was not placed in dan ger by the engineering profession and its practitioners. These sets o f rules, for the guidance o f engineers, are known as the Codes o f Ethics for Engineers.
