ABSTRACT
As can be seen, the engine speed starts at 800 rpm and very quickly drops to 600 rpm because o f the load. The response then oscillates at a period o f about 2.25 seconds. There also is a large overshoot indicating that the system is underdamped. This speed response is undesirable, and leads to the need for a control system for the engine. A control system is clearly required to improve the engine's response to a load.
