ABSTRACT

The simulation for this system requires two integrators and a constant. Inte-

grators are in the linear system block set and the constant is in the "sources" l i -

brary.

Clicking and dragging the integrators and the constant block into the Simu-

link model window (untitled in Figure A.5) creates the model. This gives the start

o f the model as shown in the figure. To change the constant value in the Constant

block to 32.2 (it is set to 1 in the block library), the user simply double clicks on

the block and a dialog window opens that allows the user to specify the value o f

the constant. The last step is to connect the blocks together. This is accomplished

by clicking on the arrow port at the block output and wi th the mouse button held

down, dragging the line that results until the cursor changes to a cross at the input

port where the connection is to be made. When this is complete, the block dia-

gram, and the simulation is complete. I f the user would like, he can specify the

names o f the variables on the lines in the block diagram. Simply double clicking

on any line w i l l place a question mark on the line that the user can then type a

name. For this example, we w i l l change the names o f the variables to position and

velocity and we w i l l also rename the integrator blocks to position integrator and

velocity integrator. The final block diagram appears in Figure A.6 .
