ABSTRACT

The effectiveness of American private-and public-sector executives is critical to the maintenance of the American quality of life. Global competition and technological and scientific advances, as well as communication and transportation innovations, make a chaotic and complex world. Coping will be difficult; managing will be challenging. Senior business and government executives will face the task of designing and implementing policies to respond to the problems and opportunities accompanying these changes. These executives must assume major roles in ensuring that their organizations are positioned for success.
