ABSTRACT
Among the large variety of methods that may be applied to reduce the energy consumption of a kiln system, only the most commonly used will be discussed in the following.
The method, of course, depends very much on the process considered and whether it is a question of a new kiln or an existing one. Furthermore, for the choice of method and its profitability it is important to ensure that the increased production can be sold. Before selecting a certain method, the circumstances of the process should, therefore, be elucidated.
