ABSTRACT

Sensitivity analysis is also closely related to pammeter determination. Often it is difficult to determine the physical parameters of a formation by direct measurements. Indirect means, such as observ-

ing aquifer response due to disturbances by pumping activities, are employed. Mathematically, an inverse problem is solved. If the response we choose to observe is sensitive to a certain parameter, then that parameter stands a good chance to be accurately determined. On the other hand, if the response is insensitive to the variation of a parameters, then the mathematical problem can becomes ill posed in the presence of data noise. The parameter cannot be accurately, or even uniquely determined.
