ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses some of the concepts of creativity and some strategies the individual can adopt to make himself or herself more creative. Gutenberg made two major contributions to the art of printing. The One of the best ways to gain a better understanding of these concepts and strategies is to examine great inventions of the past, and how the inventors proceeded to reach their solutions. The chapter deals with some discussion of alternative designs. Some engineering designers work with systems or devices that require the ability to visualize relationships in ways similar to that required of an author. Area thinking may be used to invent new products. The objective of this approach is usually to improve an existing product by concentrating on one of its characteristics that is important to the consumer. The common thread of dedication and intensity of each man is quite evident when one studies the events that culminated in a major invention.
