ABSTRACT
Sampling by lots for receiving inspection, say of purchased materials and components, also requires random sampling for each lot since the theory of acceptance sampling is based on random selection applied to the entire lot. Usually, in this operation, nothing is known about the order in which the lots were produced or even if a lot is an aggregation of production at different times. This topic is treated in the next chapter.
