ABSTRACT
In Chapter 1 we discussed the role of probability in statistical inference. We have seen that by assuming a particular probability model, we can make statements concerning samples drawn from populations by using deductive reasoning. In this chapter we will be using statistical inference, based on inductive reasoning, to demonstrate how we can describe populations based on random samples.
