ABSTRACT
We shall have occasion to consider Desarguesian planes with spreads in PG(3, K ) where K is an infinite field. That is, i f is a skewfield with com mutative multiplication. In this instance, such planes are said to be ‘Pappian’ for historical reasons. There is a configuration theorem called the configuration of Pappus from which the planes derive their designation.
