Quantitative structure-activity relationships (QSAR or SAR) may be the most com m on concept in chemistry to explain the function o f chemical com pounds based on their structure. T o derive a quantitative relation equation, y = f(x), regression analysis-simple or m ultiple linear regres sion analysis depending on the num ber (n) o f structure param eters (xn) that are correlated with activity or function (y)— has been most fre quently applied.
