ABSTRACT
When the engineer and his young son Icarus were imprisoned in a high tower by the powerful King Minos, who controlled the land and the sea, Daedalus formed an engineering design for flying through the air. Innocently requesting candles so that he might continue to read and study, and using their wax and the feathers ofbirds that flew about the tower, he constructed a pair of wings.
