ABSTRACT

A 32-year-old man experienced recurrent renal calculi (calcium phosphate) over an 11-year period, subsequently developing scarred kidneys and abnormal serum creatinine levels, possibly due to periodic episodes of partial obstruction. Chronic medications for epilepsy included acetazolamide (500 mg twice daily) and carbamazepine (1000 mg daily). The most recent stone analysis revealed pure calcium phosphate stones with a urinary pH of 6.0. Urinary citrate excretion was low (72 μιηοΐ/day).
