ABSTRACT
Plant 10-25 (3) cm tall, forming compact mats. Rhizome long creeping. Stems several, surrounded by brown, dull scalelike sheaths at base, upper 2 green, with short blade. Spikelets 2-5-flowered. Glumes yellowish-brown, lower 2 sterile; lowest shorter than spikelet, with callus at tip, obtusely globose. Perianth without bristles. Fruit obovate, flattened-trigonous or planoconvex, blackish-brown, lustrous.
