ABSTRACT

Matthews (1992) defined a virus as a set of one or more nucleic acid molecules, normally encased in a protective coat of protein of lipopro tein, which is able to meditate its own replication only within suitable host cells and is dependent on the host's protein-synthesizing machinery.
