ABSTRACT
The present chapter reviews and augments our knowledge of the structure of the mature spermatozoa of the Urodela. Knowledge of spermatozoal ultrastructure is indispensable in the study of reproductive biology and has proven of major value in phylogenetic analysis in many phyla (see Jamieson 1987,1999a,b, 2000a,b; Edgecombe et al. 2000; Gonzalo et a l 2001; Schram and Jenner 2001).
