ABSTRACT

In recent years, our knowledge of the structure of crustacean neurohormones has been greatly enhanced, mainly due to the massive utilization of molecular biology methods, as in every field of biology. As a matter of fact, the research effort, in terms of time and cost, to clone an mRNA encoding for a precursor hormone is generally less when compared to classical biochemical/biophysical amino-acid sequencing. Thus, recent developments include gene structure elucidation of the crustacean hyperglycemic hormone (CHH), or related peptides (CI-ll-1-rps), in different species.
