Petitioning for Adverse Impacts of Global Warming in the Inter-American Human Rights System

The options for bringing a human rights complaint against the United States are examined here. Because international human rights law gives states primary responsibility for ensuring the protection of human rights, we confine this analysis to a claim against the United States. However, because some human rights institutions have in some instances recognized the responsibility of corporations for human rights violations,3 global warming may be a basis for claims against US corporations as well.
