ABSTRACT

Cyclic electron flow within PS II (CEF - PS II) has also been regarded as a mechanism for alleviation of photoinhibition (Miyaké et al. 2003). It was shown that the activity of CEF - PS II increases with a corresponding increase in light intensity and may exceed that of the water-water cycle (Miyaka et a l , 2002), while the activity of CEF - PS II depends on A pH, it is driven by a different mechanism other than that of the dependence of NPQ on A pH. Miyaké et al., (2003) have concluded that if electron flow in PS II is kept high by CEF - PS II or linear electron flow, photoinhibition of PS II is suppressed (See Figure 2.1).
