ABSTRACT

Internal field dosimetry was originally developed for ionizing radiation. It was based on a relationship between dose and biological effect. Since the energy absorbed is directly related to the internal electromagnetic (EM) fields, dosimetry is interpreted to mean the determination of EM fields inside the biological body. Dosimetry considers the measurement or determination by calculation of the internal fields, induced current density, specific absorption, or specific absorption rate distributions in objects like models, animals, humans, or even parts of human body exposed to radio frequency radiation. The polarization of an EM wave is the direction of lines of force in the electric field. The British government had asked the Chairman of the National Radiological Protection Board to establish an independent group of experts to evaluate possible adverse health effects of mobile phones. Instrument for measuring magnetic fields consists of two basic components, a loop and a detector.
