ABSTRACT
At the end of this survey, we can propose priority research in the fol lowing areas.
10.1 Fundamental
The basic mechanisms for creep in wooden materials need to be clari fied:
1. explanation by chemical, molecular (ultra, micro) structural approach,
2. better identification of transitions ( 1 , 2, e p e 2, 0$ ) and of the t imetemperature domain where they occur,
3. better definition of local (ultra structural level) moisture content and temperature,
4. mechanisms of wood stabilization (acetylation, formaldehyde crosslinking).
