ABSTRACT

The war caused tragic consequences to the population, economy and the total territorial structure of the state which resulted in a 3-4-fold reduction in national income.

About 26% of the former territory has been occupied and is largely destroyed. About 250,000 refugees from this area have left their homes under the pressure of ethnic cleansing, and in addition, due to the war in Bosnia and Hercegovina about 270,000 inhabitants have found shelter in Croatia, which resulted in >500,000 refugees and displaced persons.
