ABSTRACT
Abstract The present paper outlines the research programme of the COST-C1 seismic working group focusing mainly on the aims and working methods. In addition, a general description of the ongoing and programmed work by the working group members will be done. The general objective of the working group is to assess the seismic behaviour of civil engineering structures designed and/or constructed with semi-rigid connections. Improvement of construction technologies and manufacturing leading to a more competitive position of the European Industry in earthquake prone zones are envisaged. Relevant research achievements will be used to improve design codes, specifically Eurocode N.8 (ECS) which is the European design code for seismic regions.
