ABSTRACT

Abstract The first results of a general research program devoted to study the influence of cladding panels on the structural behaviour of framed structures are presented in this paper. The complete investigation analyses both experimental and theoretical aspects. With regard to numerical studies, the finite element analysis has been chosen as the suitable technique for evaluating both shear flexibility and strength of panels under monotonic loads. An appropriate model has been set-up, allowing to interpret the single panel behaviour taking into account both the panel geometry and its connecting system. The reliability of such models has been, therefore, deeply investigated and verified against existing experimental results. Keywords: Seismic Behaviour, Stressed Skin Design, F.E. Analysis.
