ABSTRACT

A draft standard has been produced by the working group of TC 51 and has been submitted for formal vote as a pre-standard. The UK accepts the specification for the cement which in Table 6 is compared with the requirements of BS 915: Part 2:1972 [8]. The problem for the UK is that the draft also contains guidance on the use of the cement for structural purposes. Whilst it does draw attention to the fact that the cement is not permitted in some countries this is not considered to be a sufficiently strong warning in view of the serious failures experienced here.
