Radical Concrete Technology. Edited by R K Dhir and P C Hewlett. Published in 1996 by E & FN Spon, 2-6 Boundary Row, London SE1 8HN, UK. ISBN 0 419 21480 1. ABSTRACT. The study on HPC properties are giving more and more valuable information about their outstanding qualities. Strength as the main feature of concrete, in its new generation which is HPC, is formatted by structure modification but especially by cement-superplasticizer-silica fume system. The quantitative character of interaction of that three components is not up to now explicitly identified. In the paper the attempt to evaluate this influence basing on author’s research and Larrada’s model has been carried out. The results can be used as the base for forecasting quantitative-qualitative composition of HPC concrete. Keywords: microsilica, silica fume, plasticizer, Portland cement, High Performance Cement HPC, compressive strength. Professor dr. hab. eng. Kazimierz Flaga is Director of Institute of Building Material and Structure of Cracow Technical University. He specialises in the use of concrete in Civil Engineering. Author of over 100 publications, Head of Concrete Construction Section of Polish Academy of Science. Professor dr. hab. eng. Janusz Mierzwa is Head of Concrete Technology Laboratory at Cracow Technical University. He specialises in technology and use of HPC concrete, structure durability, repairs and corrosion.
