This paper is based on the experiences of the author during 19 years of assessing Quality Management Systems within the N Ireland ready mixed concrete industry. It shows how improved supplier quality management has extended to the construction site by means of improved specifications and designs, by closer liaison between suppliers, contractors and designers, and by improved motivation and training of all concerned with production and supply of concrete.
