The study had been carried out on the high performance concrete with the Third Series Cement, sulpho-and ferro-aluminate cement. The experimental results showed that the setting and the workable time of the fresh concrete could be retarded and the physico-mechanical properties and the durability of the hardened concrete was improved when the special admixtures were added. The applications of the high performance concrete with this kind of cement in high-rise buildings, prestressed concrete products, ready-mixed concrete plant and mass concrete engineering etc. were also described in the paper. Mr Liang ZHANG, Master of Science, is an engineer in House Building Materials And Concrete Research Institute, China Building Materials Academy. He specializes in the properties and the application research of the third series cement concrete. Mr. Zhang has published tens of papers in this field. Professor Muzhen SU is vice-president of China Building Materials Academy. She specializes in the production technology of cement and special cement. She is one of the inventors of the Third Series Cement. Professor Su has published widely and serves on many Technical Committees and is the vice-chairman of the Cement Society, China. Mr Shaojiang Wang is an assistant engineer in Yuan Da Engineering Materials Development Co. His main research interests include the application of the Third Series Cement and special admixtures.
