ABSTRACT
In a recent study on the pitting corrosion of AISI 316L austenitic stainless steel in acidified 3% NaCl solution, Mazille [4] reported "a good correlation between AE activity (number of events) and the pitting corrosion damage". Concerning the corrosion of mild steel, Seah et al. [3] reported a "quite clear correlation between the AE activities and corrosion rate" during the corrosion of AISI 1020 mild steel immersed in HCl solution.
