ABSTRACT

Abstract Elevated temperature treatment used for high early strengths of cement based systems modify the microstructure of cement pastes i.e. composition and structure of hydrates, ionic concentrations in pore solution, pore size distribution, microcracking. These changes can favour the ingress of aggressive agents as chloride or the formation of expansive delayed ettringite or alkali-silica gels. New cement-based products have been optimized for high strength and durability. Adapted thermal treatments involve characteristic temperature level, duration and applied pressure. Keywords : Temperature curing, microstructure, chemical durability, expansion, cracking.
