ABSTRACT

Abstract Vitality of irrigation depends on the effective use of the water sources in the country. Making irrigation financially attractive for agricultural producers is of national importance. In this respect the value of water for irrigation is essential. An economical and financial appraisal of two representative irrigation schemes in Bulgaria has been made on the basis of system analysis. The model irrigation schemes are in Plovdiv region (low-pressure scheme with gravity irrigation) and in Vratza region (high-pressure scheme with sprinkler irrigation), where the pilot extension services were founded.
