ABSTRACT
This chapter describes methods for determining the bearing capacity and settlement of footings on fractured rock, while Chapter 6 discusses foundation stability. Most foundations consist of square or rectangular reinforced concrete structures that are sized to ensure that the rock can support the structural loads without excessive settlement.
