ABSTRACT
For management of cyanobacterial hazards to human health, a basic under standing of the properties, the behaviour in natural ecosystems, and the environmental conditions which support the growth of certain species is helpful. This chapter provides information on how cyanobacteria are struc tured and the abilities which they posses that support their proliferation in aquatic ecosystems.
