ABSTRACT
Where flats are concerned, upper floors need to have more mass to reduce the sounds that can be transmitted between floors, and also to provide better fire resistance. These floors are generally constructed using in-situ reinforced concrete, precast concrete beams with infill blocks, or prestressed planks with structural screeds.
