ABSTRACT
Immunosuppression is the area of immunotoxicology, the adverse consequences of which are best recognised on human health; this is largely due to the introduction of potent immunosuppressive drugs into the clinical setting in the 1960s, resulting in the early description of adverse reactions induced by these new treatments, but also to the focused and continuing interest of many immunotoxicologists on immunosuppression.
