ABSTRACT
Volunteer studies may be performed in either healthy or patient volunteers. The risks involved in healthy volunteer studies are quite different to those studies involving individuals already suffering from a disease or illness. It is for this reason that this chapter will concentrate, almost exclusively, on the risks involved in healthy volunteer studies.
