ABSTRACT
Although it is known that different carcinogenic xenobiotics can circulate in natural ecosystems (air, water, soil and plants), it is not yet possible to provide a confident answer to the general question as to whether cancer risks are increased by consuming plant or animal food from contaminated regions.
