ABSTRACT
Each year the Association for Geographic Information (AGI) Sourcebook for Geographic Information combines a selection of invited chapters on different aspects of GIS and the related technologies with comprehensive UK GIS directories. The reasoning behind the continuation of this successful format is twofold. Firstly, it provides the reader with an up-to-date overview of a number of current GIS topics and issues-in other words a ‘snapshot’ of the ‘hot topics’ of the year; secondly, it provides the directory user with a comprehesive list of GIS information (e.g. about applications software, vendors, products and services) and contacts (telephone and fax numbers, electronic mail, and postal addresses). Although largely centered on UK-based information, European information is also included where possible.
