ABSTRACT

Previous chapters covered issues related to communications software design on singleprocessor and single-board architectures. However, communications systems can be complex, often involv ing several boards i n a chassis and, i n some cases, mult iple chassis. The software design w i l l need to handle the distributed architecture o f a mul t i -board system. I n most development situations, engineers w i l l not be able to mainta in mul t ip le baselines for their software-one for the single-board system and another for the m u l t i - board environment. I n these cases, i t is useful to design the software to be able to w o r k easily i n bo th environments.
