ABSTRACT
It is customary in modern textbooks on partial differential equations to either completely ignore first-order partial differential equations or postpone their discussion to a later chapter. Since first-order partial differential equations are important from both physical and geometrical standpoints, their study is essential to understand the nature of solutions and form a guide to the solutions of higher-order partial differential equations.
