The same feature is also observed with the gradient-type localization limiter. The very steep variation of the strain gradient at the boundary of the softening zone causes this spurious result and cannot be accommodated. The stress-strain response exhibits snapback when the strain gradient g is very high (g>50), that is near the boundary of the localization zone [7]. As demonstrated earlier [12-15], nonlocal models exhibit a good convergence of the strain profiles (Fig.4b).
