ABSTRACT

This was the point at which the authors suspected a departure from perfect piston flow, it also represented the optimum operating condition. A similar study by Heywood and Richardson (130) indicated drag reduction of as much as 85 per cent for pseudoplastic kaolin slurries and 80 per cent for Bingham plastic anthracite suspensions. They recommended that the slurry Reynolds number not exceed 1000 if turbulent flow problems are to be avoided.
