ABSTRACT

The choice of pumps or pumping systems for slurry transport will depend not only on the flow and head required, suction conditions, type of installation and location, as for any other pump application, but also on the slurry flow regime and properties, i.e. mixture concentration, apparent viscosity, particle size and abrasivity. Hence, the range may be quite wide or relatively limited, depending on the particular application involved; as pointed out in Odrowaz-Pieniazek (1), each application must be considered individually, as no pump type is universally suitable.
