ABSTRACT
The following topics on which there would appear to be a need for further R & D work, either in terms of developing new types of pump and pump components, or providing more information to improve existing designs, are suggested:
1. Pumps for non-Newtonian 'stabilised' coarse particle slurries need to be developed. At present, the concrete-handling and rotary ram pumps appear to be the only ones which are suitable for this duty, but are limited particularly in terms of capacity/unit; higher pressures might also be desirable.
