ABSTRACT

This article attempts to elucidate the relative merits of two-and three-dimensional finite-element versions of a brittle material model for structural concrete when applied to the analysis of structural walls. It is found that, while both versions yield satisfactory results for strength predictions and cracking processes, the 3-D option appears to lead to considerable improvement of deformation characteristics.
