ABSTRACT

An industrial building is any structure that is used to store raw materials, house a manufacturing process, or to store the furnished goods from a manufacturing process. Industrial buildings can range from the simplest warehouse type structure to highly sophisticated structures integrated with a manufacturing system. Design considerations vary somewhat depending upon the type of industrial building in question. For ease of discussion this chapter is separated into two major parts. Part 1 deals with industrial buildings without cranes. Part 2 deals with buildings with overhead or underhung crane runway systems.
